      MRS. KATE FOWLER, 90, DIES
      Mrs. Kate R. (Grandma) Fowler, one of Linesville's best-known and revered citizens, passed away at City Hospital, Meadville, Friday morning, July 15, at 12:10 a.m., after a short illness. She would have been 91 December 28.
      Funeral services were held Sunday from the Maryott Funeral Home, Linesville. Interment followed at Linesville Cemetery. Rev. EE Donner, minister of Linesville Methodist Church officiatead.
      Friday evening members of Diamond Chapter held memorial services at the funeral home.
      Extremely interested in civic affairs, Mrs. Fowler had been active in Linesville Grange, Diamond Chapter, Order of Eatern Star, and the Universalist Church until a few weeks before her death. She always maintained her own home, part of a double house owned by a daughter, Mrs. Harold Lowing of Linesville.
      Mrs. Fowler came here in 1902 with her husband, Frank H. Fowler, who purchased onion ground, later developing it on such an extensive scale he was frequently referred to as the "onion king." He sold his land to the state when the Pymatuning reservoir program was started and went into semi-retirement. The ruins of one of the Fowler buildings still can be seen west of the Linesville spillway, its location one of the favorite fishing spots on the lake. Mr. Fowler died June 4, 1934.
      Mrs. Fowler was born at Madison, Ohio, December 28, 1864, the oldest child of Sextus and Eunice Wood, pioneers of Lake County. Two brothers, WW Wood, of Shaker Heights, Cleveland, and Norman Wood, of Madison, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Skinner, of Twin Falls, Idaho, are still living. A brother, Elisha Wood, passed away a few years ago.
      Other survivors are a son, Oliver A. Fowler, Tuscon, Ariz., two daughters, Mrs. Roy Paden of Painesville, Ohio, Mrs. Lowing, and six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
      Another son, Sextus Fowler, and a daughter, Mrs. Polly Gillette, preceded her in death.
      Bearers were four grandsons and two great-grandsons: Carl Fowler of Easton, Pa., Richard Paden of Painesville, Ohio, Alvin Gillette of Erie, Lawrence Lowing of Linesville, Robert Lowing of Linesville and Larry Lowing of Berea, Ohio.
      Relatives called here by Mrs. Fowler's death included: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fowler and son, Tom, of Easton; Mr. and Mrs. WW Wood, and Mr. and Mrs. Len Gunderson of Shaker Heights, Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. David Pennell and son, Bob, of Parma, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Paden, Richard Paden, and Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Whiting of Painesville, Ohio; Norman Wood of Madison, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dedad and children, Jerry, Darrell and Polly, Alvin Gillette, Mrs. Norma Jean Kaiser, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gillette of Erie, and Larry Lowing of Berea, Ohio.

      Mrs. Kate Fowler will be 90 years of age at her next birthday. She celebrated her 89th birthday Monday, at her home receiving many cards, gifts and bouquets of flowers.
      Mrs. Fowler has her own home with her daughter, Mrs. Fleta Lowing, living in the other side of the double house on Jefferson street, Linesville.
      Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gillette and family of Erie called in the afternoon. He is her grandson. In the evening Mrs. Sadie Little and Mrs. Garner Irons were in for a little get together and refreshments served by Mrs. Lowing.
      Mrs. Fowler was born at the time of the Civil War and was married 73 years ago. Her son, Oliver Fowler, of Tucson, Arizona, is over seventy. A daughter, Mrs. Roy Paden, lives in Painesville, Ohio.
