      LINESVILLE - Sara Van Sicklin Egan, 90, of Linesville, died Friday, August 11, 2000, at Rolling Fields, Conneautville.
      She was born in Linesville March 23, 1910, a daughter of John Elliot and Lillian Fish Van Sicklin. She married Thomas H. Egan of New Bedford, Mass. He preceded her in death in 1948.
      She was a member of St. Philip Church, Linesville, and a past member of its altar and rosary society.
      She was Valedictorian of Linesville High School's class of 1928 and continued her education in Washington, D.C. at Livingston Academy of Art and George Washington University.
      She and her husband resided in New Bedford until 1946, when they moved to Linesville. Upon his death in 1948, she completed her bachelor of science at Allegheny College and began a 25-year teaching career at Linesville-Conneaut-Summit High School.
      She was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority at George Washington University, Delta Kappa Gamma sorority at Allegheny College and the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
      Her interests in travel, education and the Linesville community continued throughout her life. She spent many summers in her home in Massachusetts, with her family and traveling throughout Europe and Central America.
      Survivors include her daughter, Patricia E. Langmyer and her husband, Henry E. of Orchard Park, N.Y., her son, Thomas R. Egan and his wife, Allynne, of South Dartmouth, Mass.; three grandchildren, Kathryn Langmyer Henderson, Thomas E. Langmyer and Anthony Egan; six great-grandchildren; three nieces; and a nephew.
      She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Van Sicklin and his wife, Dorothy Walker Van SIcklin.
      Calling hours were held at Harold W. Coleman Jr. Funeral Home, Linesville.
      Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, August 14, 2000 at St. Philip Church, Linesville, with Father John G. Barwin as celebrant. Burial was in Linesville Cemetery.

    • from the January 24, 1952 issue of the Linesville Herald:
      "Mrs. Sara Egan, local teacher, suffered a possible broken ankle, when she fell Tuesday night. She was leaving the bus returning from the Conneautville-Linesville basketball game. X-rays are to be taken Wednesday night or Thursday to determine the full extent of the injury. Rev. Lester Norton, is substitution at the school for Mrs. Egan, until she is able to assume her duties."

Eliot Van Sicklin, of this place, and Miss Lillian Fish, of Conneautville, was solemnized in the presence of invited guests at the bride's home, June 12, 1906, at 3 o'clock p.m. by Rev. Vincent. Those from Linesville were John Van Sicklin, Miss Laura Van Sicklin, Miss Kittie Van Sicklin, Chas. Miller, Miss Nellie Sheakley, Miss Hazen, Chas. Casby, Fred Blair, Clayton Brown. Mr. Van Sicklin is a successful business man of Linesville and the architect of his own fortune. His friends are legion at home and abroad. Mr. and Mrs. Van Sicklin will reside at The Traveler. The bride and groom will have the best wishes of the people of our village.
