    • from a scrapbook at the Linesville Historical Society:
"Miss Sadie Van Sicklin died at her home, "The Traveller," in Linesville at 2 o'clock Thursday morning, after a two weeks' illness with appendicitis. Miss Van Sicklin was well known and many friends will learn with sorrow of her death. Her mother died four weeks ago, making the second bereavement doubly hard. She is survived by her father, one brother, Ell, and two sisters, Laura and Kittie."
    • from a scrapbook at the Linesville Historical Society:
The death of Miss Saidee B. Van Sicklin occurred at her home in this town Thursday, October 26, after an illness of two weeks, suffering from appendicitis, two operations being performed in an effort to save her life. She was born in Kingsville, O., February 28, 1878, and was a graduate of the Conneaut Lake High School, and afterward taught school near Meadville. Miss Van Sicklin was a jewel in the Van Sicklin home which consisted of Robert W., who passed away January, (?), 1900, and her mother who was taken from their midst only four weeks ago, and her father, John A., one brother, J. Elliot, and two sisters, Laura and Kitty, who still survive her.
Miss Van Sicklin was a favorite among all those who knew her, and possessed a most kind, devoted and lovable nature, and her very presence emphasized her love and affection for those about her. Her departure from our midst has been most keenly felt in this vicinity, and by all those who knew her and by whom she was held in high esteem. She was a prominent member of the United Presbyterian Church, and an earnest worker in the Literature Club.
Her many friends have expressed their sympathy in words and flowers. Among the many floral tributes were a lyre of carnations and chrysanthemums presented by the Literature Club; also a broken wheel of carnation roses by the young men of the town, besides many beautiful sprays of roses, carnations and chrysanthemums.
