      MRS. REBA M. GREENE
Mrs. Reba M. Greene, 92, of Linesville, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1975, at Meadville City Hospital after a two year illness.
She was born in Linesville Nov. 5, 1883, a daughter of William and Margaret Englehaupt Brown.
Mrs. Greene was the widow of Guy T. Greene who died in 1947 after a career of miracle healing which brought international fame for himself and Linesville, the scene of his life time practice. Greene moved here as a youth, worked for A.B. Griffing Co. cold storage, briefly operated a grocery, and worked as station agent at the Pennsylvania railroad before his success at "healing" others by a self-learned chiropractics (sBme said he had miracle hands) moved him to set up practice in 1916.
His success was meteoric, and held firmly throughout his professional life, so that when he died at 70 in 1947, 1200 appointments were listed on his books for the next three months. He treated many national figures, including Hall of Fame baseball players Dizzy Dean, Paul Waner and Schoolboy Rowe. He was credited with curing many incurables, including blindness.
His success made him a wealthy man, and he acquired much property, including several residences in the neighborhood of Chestnut and East Erie Streets, where he lived. He also purchased "the Pines", a farm home on Gehrton Road, where he kept blooded horses, cattle and dogs. This property was later purchased by the Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars, the semi-bungalow establishment afterwards burning and replaced by the present home. Both he and Mrs. Greene, though a bit restrained in active participation, strongly supported all community endeavors, and were sociable with the residenters. He refused to accept pay when local people sought him in off-hours for treatment.
Mrs. Greene was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Diamond Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Linesville. As the wife of what Linesville considered its "first citizen", she was counted its "first lady."
Survivors include a son, William H. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three grandsons, John E. of Brevard, N.C., Guy D. of Hollywood, Fla., and Robert S. of St. Petersburg.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Thurman M. Houghton Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Larson of Linesville United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was at Linesville Cemetery.
