      Shields - Mittlebock
      Miss Ruth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Shields of Linesville, Pa., and John Mittlebock a well known young man of Iola, Kansas, were united in marriage at high noon, September 18, 1916, at the home of E.J. Gaylord, 2142 G Street. Miss Roxa Gaylord a cousin of the bride being the only attendant. Rev. E. McClusky was the officiating clergyman. The newly married couple first met and became acquainted while attending school in St. Louis, the Principia Christian Science Institute. After their visit is concluded here they will return to Iola, Kansas where they will reside. Last Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Mittlebock at the bride's home, were given a shower thirty-five friends greeted them with congratulations and best wishes and bestowed gifts of hand-painted china, cut-glass and embroidery.
