1883 MINUTES OF THE LINESVILLE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION
March 27, 1883
At a meeting of the trustees of the Linesville Cemetery Association for organization the following persons were elected
W.E. Brown Pres.
Ira Stratton Secy.
Theo. Sigler Treas.
A committee of two was appointed by the President to secure deed from the Town Council for the land now used as Cemetery. Committee consisted of Theo. Sigler and Ira Stratton.
A committee was also appointed by the Pres. to draft By Laws Rules & Regulations governing the Cemetery. Committee - C. P. Stevens & Ira Stratton.
The President was instructed by the Board to see Mrs. B. O. Irons in regard to securing more land adjoining the Cemetery.
Meeting then adjourned until called by the Pres.
April 16, 1883
Trustees met at call of the President.
Report of committee on securing Deed from the Council received. Deed secured as required and committee discharged.
President reports that Mrs. Irons price for six acres of land is $1200.00. Twelve Hundred Dollars. Trustees considered price too high and decided not to purchase at present.
The Committee on By Laws Rules & Regulations were granted more time.
The Secretary was instructed to notify each person owning lots in the Cemetery of the amount of their indebtedness to the Trustees and request them to pay the same as no more burial permits would be allowed until lots were settled for. Wiley Mackey elected Sexton for one year. Adjourned.
October 16, 1883
Trustees met at call. All present.
Report of committee on Rules called for but committee ask more time and it was granted, after a partial report was heard.
On motion a committee of Two - J.D. Bowman and Theo. Sigler was instructed to obtain a plot of the Cemetery Grounds.
J.D. Bowman was instructed by the Board to draw up a form of deed to lot holders. Adjourned to.
December 6, 1883
Trustees met as required all the members present.
J.D. Bowman drew up a form of deed to convey to lot holders and had the same printed as instructed and delivered the same to the Secretary.
The report of the Committee on By Laws Rules was called for. Committee submit a report for the approval of the Board after adopting a part of the report board adjourned to meet the next evening to finish same.
December 7, 1883
Trustees met as decided upon and a further consideration of Rules took the time of the board for the evening.
After completing the above report the Secretary was instructed to get (200) two hundred books or pamphlets printed containing the Rules Regulations & By Laws governing the Cemetery.
