1884 MINUTES OF THE LINESVILLE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION



February 7, 1884


Board met for the last time previous to Election of New officers. Secretary presented Books containing Rules for approval of Board which were accepted and note of Thanks to Secretary for the manner in which his work was performed.

On motion W.A. Bowman and A.J. Newcomb were appointed to audit the accounts of the Secretary and Treasurer and report at the next regular meeting.

Orders were granted to pay the following bills:

Court fees to obtaining charters $24.00

F.C. Lowing advertising $3.00

F.C. Lowing printing deeds $2.00

F.C. Lowing printing books $10.00

Salary to Secretary $10.00

Paid for Secretary Book $1.25

Total $50.25

Receipted bills for each of the above in hands of secretary.

Received from Thomas Limber for lot $15.00

February 22, 1884


Trustees met for the purpose of organizing a New Board. Present: J.B. Bowman, O.H. Cram, S.A. Miller, Thos. Limber and W.E. Brown.

W.E. Brown was elected President protem and Thos. Limber Secretary protem on motion.

J.D. Bowman was elected President, W.E. Brown was elected Secretary, S.A. Miller was elected Treasurer.

On motion adjourned to meet at call of president.


February 23, 1884


At the Election held on February 23, 1884 for the purpose of choosing five Trustees for The Linesville Cemetery Association.

For two years term: W.E. Brown secured 11 votes, J.D. Bowman secured 9 votes, Thomas Limber secured 9 votes.

For one year term: O.H. Cram secured 12 votes, S.A. Miller secured 11 votes.

May 1, 1884


Trustees met at Call of President. All present. On motion the Bond of Secretary and Treasurer was presented and accepted by the Board.

On motion, adjourned to meet at call of President.


June 6, 1884


Trustees met at Call of President. All present.

R.P. Miller and S.E. Bunday committee from the Old Cemetery Association met with Trustees and reported in favor of deeding Old Cemetery Ground to the Incorporation on conditions that the Association help defend suit now pending with M.A. Arnold for the lot of land between East End of Old Cemetery and Mill Pond, extending South to Bridge across Run. That two lot holders of the Old Association to become Trustees of the Incorporation.

On motion the report was received and an committee of two was appointed to confer with M.A. Arnold in regard to pending suit. S.A. Miller and J.D. Bowman were appointed Suit Committee.

On motion ajourned to meet June 12th.


June 12, 1884


No meeting was held.

December 18, 1884


Trustees met at call of the President. All present.

S.A. Miller and J.D. Bowman committee to confer with M.A. Arnold report that they had a conference with him and he, said Arnold, agrees to sell his claim to said Lot of Land now in dispute between him and The Trustees of Old Cemetery Association for the sum of Seventy-five dollars ($75.00) and withdraw the suit now pending between him, Arnold, and S.E. Bunday for the Same. On motion the Board of Trustees accepted the proposition of M.A. Arnold and, also, accepted deed from Trustees of Old Cemetery for all land now held by said Association. Carried, all voting for motion.

On motion that stumps in fence surrounding the Cemetery be removed, preparatory to building New Fence around the same.

On motion, an order was granted W. Mackey amounting to Seventy-five cents (75¢) for mowing briers.

On motion adjourned to meet at call of President.
