1885 MINUTES OF THE LINESVILLE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION



February 28, 1885


Trustees met at call of President. All present. President appointed J.G. Gaugh and Wm. Bowman auditing committee to audit Treasurer and Secretary accounts for 1884. On motion an order was granted M.A. Arnold for seventy five ($75) dollars for land purchased of him. On motion an order was granted W.E. Brown for ten ($10.00) dollars as secretary salary for 1884. Also an order to J.D. Bowman for $1.60 for recording deed. At the election held Feb. 7th Thos. Glenn and Jos. Garner for the term of two years, but the trustees of Old Cemetery Association refused to comply with agreement made at meeting held June 12 Therefore a vacancy exists in the board of trustees. On motion adjourned.

On motion Thos. Limber was elected President Protem. W.E. Brown secretary protem. On motion S.A. Miller and O.H. Cram was elected trustees for the term of one year to fill vacancy.

On motion J.D. Bowman was elected President, W.E. Brown was elected Secretary, S.A. Miller was elected Treasurer for the present year.

On motion the proposition of L.S. Tyler to build a receiving vault was accepted.

On motion adjourned to meet March 14th, 1885.


March 14, 1885


No meeting held.

May 6, 1885


Trustees met at call of President. All present.

The Auditors report was read and on motion approved.

On motion it was resolved to build a fence across South East corner of Cemetery (The part purchased of M.A. Arnold). On motion it was also resolved to build a fence on South, West and North sides of Cemetery. Said fence to be built of oak posts plained and free from sap. Sides to good pine (plained) Boards inch thick free from sap. Panels sixteen (16) feet long. Bottom board seven inches wide. Second 6 inch wide, and two upper boards five inches wide. Cap and strip on all posts of same material. On motion O.H. Cram and W.E. Brown was appointed committee to superintend building the same.

On motion adjourned to meet at call of President.


June 10, 1885


Trustees met at call of President all present. Committee report on Fence Committee reported that fence if built according to contract. Report accepted and motion on order was granted Thayer & Ladner amounting to $55.25. Two bids were received for granting the same. J.H. Line's bid being the lowest was awarded the contract for furnishing paint and painting the same. On motion adjourned.

July 21, 1885


Trustees met at call of President. Present J.D. Bowman, O.H. Cram and W.E. Brown. On motion an order was granted J.H. Line amounting to $82.44 for Paint and painting of fence. Also to O. Lawrence for mowing briars etc. amounting to $8.00. On motion adjourned.
