1887 MINUTES OF THE LINESVILLE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION



February 4, 1887


Trustees met at call of President, present J.D. Bowman, O.H. Cram and W.E. Brown.

On motion an order was granted W.E. Brown for salary as secretary for the years of 1885 and 1886. On motion an order was granted H.S. Lowing for $2.00 for printing Election notices for years 1885 and 1886. Also one to Wiley McKay for $1.56 for mowing Cemetery.

The President appointed J.G. Gaugh and R.H. Talcott auditors for auditing accounts of 1885 and 1886. On motion adjourned to meet Friday Feb. 11th 1887.


February 5, 1887


Annual Election held and following trustees elected viz: L.S. Tyler for 2 years, Thos. Limber for 2 years, A.B. Griffing for 1 year, R.H. Talcott for 1 year, Isaac Ladner for 1 year.

February 5, 1887


Trustees met at call of President when Thos. Limber was elected President protem and R.H. Talcott secretary.

The Board was then regular Organized by electing Thos. Limber President and R.H. Talcott Secretary.

On motion J.G. Gaugh was elected to fill vacancy of Isaac Ladner. Motion carried. On motion S.S. Tyler was Elected Treasurer. Motion carried.

On motion of J.G. Gaugh, S.S. Tyler was appointed to get the Plan from the old Trustees. Motion carried.

On motion of (spot empty here) S.S. Tyler was appointed to see Old Trustees of Old Cemetery about building a gate. Motion carried.

On motion of S. S. Tyler an order be drawed on treasurer for $4.70 in favor of S.A. Miller. Motion carried.

On motion of A.B. Griffing that secretary and treasurer Bonds be fixed at $1500.00. Motion carried.

On motion of J.G. Gaugh that Secretary be instructed to notify all delinquent members to pay balance due at once. Motion carried.

On motion of S.S. Tyler that Wiley Mackey be elected as sexton for one year. Motion carried.

Regular meeting was appointed on the first Friday of the month at Town Hall. Adjourned to regular meeting.

March 4, 1887


Trustees of Linesville Cemetery Association met at Town Hall. Members present: J.G. Gaugh, A.B. Griffing, S.S. Tyler, R.H. Talcott, Thos. Limber.

Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Mr. S.S. Tyler a Committee appointed to acquire the old Chart reported as having attended to that duty and delivered it to the Secretary.

Bonds of S.S. Tyler as Treasurer and R.H. Talcott as Secretary in the sum of $500.00 each were duly signed and accepted.

On motion of S.S. Tyler an order was granted of One Dollar $1.00 in favor of J.G. Gaugh for work.

On motion J.G. Gaugh that S.S. Tyler and A.B. Griffing be appointed a committee to see where a gate can be built for.

On motion of J.G. Gaugh that a vote of thanks be extended to R.P. Miller for the Chart.

March 31, 1887


Trustees of Linesville Cemetery Association met at Town Hall & W. E. Brown shop. Members all present. Minutes of last meeting read and approved.

Committee to see what a gate could be built for asked for more time which was granted. On motion of S.S. Tyler an Order of One Dollar was granted to S.W. Lowing for printing notice of election.

On motion of J.G. Gaugh that the regular meeting night be changed to the second Friday of the month at town Hall. On motion of A.B. Griffing we adjourned to the third Friday in April. Secretary was instructed to write to parties in Erie for the price on white beader posts 4x4 3 feet long.

April 16, 1887


Linesville Cemetery Association met at town Hall members all present.

Committee to find the cost of gate report that it could be made for Three Dollars including lumber and the Building Hardware extra. On motion of J.G. Gaugh that commiteee hired Ed Graham to build the gate as reported by the committee to buy the Hardware.

On motion of A.B. Griffing that a Committee be appointed to buy marble posts size 4x4 3 feet long the committee to decide on the number. Committee R.H. Talcott and J.G. Gaugh. On motion J.G. Gaugh that each member be assessed Twenty Five cents per year for repairs. Adjourned to regular meeting. Signed: R.H. Talcott, Secretary


May 14, 1887


Linesville Cemetery Association met at Town Hall all members present. Minutes of last meeting read and approved.

Committee to get marble posts reported they had got Sixteen at a cost of Eighteen Dollars for the lot. Committee continued to set the posts. Board to meet at Cemetery Monday at two o'clock. On motion of J.G. Gaugh an order was granted to R.H. Wasser for Eighteen Dollars for marble posts.

Secretary was instructed to offer Mr. O.Z. Collins Ten Dollars for his lot and he to return the deed and vacate the same.

Secretary was instructed to Drawn on J.E. Johnston through the Board for the amount of his lot Fifteen Dollars.

July 8, 1887


Linesville Cemetery Association met at Town Hall all members present by A.B. Griffing. Minutes of last meeting read and approved as read.

On motion of J.G. Gaugh that Secretary proceed to collect account of J.E. Johnston carried for $15.00.

On motion of S.S. Tyler that an Order of Four Dollars in favor of G.C. Wallace for building and painting gate. Motion carried. On motion of A.B. Griffing that an Order of One Dollar in favor of S.S. Tyler for gate pulling. Motion carried. On motion of S.S. Tyler and Order for Five Dollars and Fifteen cents $5.15 was granted in favor of R.H. Talcott for Portage Supplies and Labor. Motion carried.

On motion of J.G. Gaugh secretary was instructed to make Deed to Mrs. Electa Wiser and to draw on her through Bank for full amount of lots. Motion carried.

November 11, 1887


Linesville Cemetery Association met at W.E. Brown Shop. Minutes of last meeting read and approved as read.

Moved and carried that Secretary proceed to collect amounts due on lots owned by B.O Irons and Mrs. Ameila Bell. Motion carried.

December 16, 1887


Linesville Cemetery Association met at W.E. Brown. Minutes of last meeting read and approved as read. All members present.

On motion of S.S. Tyler that we reserve Lots No. 1,2,3 for building a vault some time in the future. Motion carried.
